We’re sharing this to clarify that The Original Mattress Factory is open, operating normally, and not affiliated with a separate retailer called Mattress Factory that has recently been in the news.

If you've searched for us recently and stumbled across some confusing headlines, we understand the concern. A few customers have reached out asking some version of the same question:

“Is The Original Mattress Factory going out of business?”

The answer is NO.

The Original Mattress Factory is not going out of business. We are open, operating normally, and continuing to serve customers across all of our markets the same way we have since 1990.

But we think it's worth explaining where the confusion is coming from, because it's a reasonable question and you deserve a straight answer.

Two Different Companies with Similar Names

The news circulating online involves a company called Mattress Factory, a separate mattress retail chain based in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. Despite the similar name, Mattress Factory and The Original Mattress Factory are two completely separate businesses. We are not affiliated, do not share ownership, and have no connection to one another beyond operating in the same general industry.

We know that's easy to say and a little harder to verify when you're reading headlines quickly, so here's the clearest way we can put it:

• The Original Mattress Factory is a factory-direct mattress company with stores across multiple states. We build our own brand of mattresses by hand in our own factory workshops and sell directly to consumers — no middlemen, no inflated pricing.
• Mattress Factory is a separate retail chain. Any news about that company's store closures or business status does not apply to us.

Why the Confusion Happens

We get it. The names are similar, both companies sell mattresses, and when news about one circulates online, search engines and AI tools don't always draw a clean line between them. Automated systems group similar brand names together, and a headline about one can easily surface when someone searches for the other.

It's one of the unintended consequences of how information gets indexed and retrieved today and it's exactly why we want to address it clearly and on the record.
