The Original Mattress Factory celebrates 30 years

How it all started

Ron was president of a major, mainstream mattress brand when he started to notice trends within the industry that directly conflicted with his values. It seemed that mattress companies no longer cared about what was best for their customers. So he gave it all up, striking out on his own with a few key partners to start The Original Mattress Factory.

The concept was simple. Instead of cutting back on quality, they would hand build mattresses in local factories. Instead of selling them to middlemen who would add on a huge retail markup, they would sell them directly to customers in their own stores. Instead of offering high-pressure, today-only sales, they’d offer the same honest, transparent pricing to everyone every day. It sounds simple, but it’s exactly what makes OMF different.

Now, 30 years later, we’re in 12 markets and 9 different states. Our customers can take pride in supporting their community by buying products that were hand built in their hometown. They can rest assured that they’re getting our very best price every day and a no-pressure sales experience.

Here’s to the next 30 years

While our 30^th year has already included some unprecedented challenges, we’re proud to say we’re emerging stronger than ever. This year, we will move into new markets, open new stores, and debut new products, but we’ll always hold onto what makes us who we are.

We’re looking forward to another 30 years of hand building our mattresses and box springs with the highest-quality materials in our local factories. We’ll keep selling them factory direct to offer the best value to you.
