Flipping and rotating your mattress regularly can help improve its long-term comfort and durability. We recommend flipping and/or rotating your mattress every three months (or seasonally). (Register for our free flip reminder emails here.) If you have a two-sided, flippable mattress, you’ll want to alternate flipping and rotating; if you have a one-sided mattress, you’ll just rotate from head to foot. This process can help your mattress wear evenly and minimize body impressions.
Some quick tips before you get started:
Whether you’re flipping or rotating your mattress, we always recommend that you do so with help. We don’t cut on quality with our mattresses, so that means they can be quite heavy. To prevent injury, it’s always a great idea to have someone help.
If you don’t feel you can safely flip or rotate your mattress, please contact your nearest factory. For the price of a delivery fee, our team can come flip or rotate the mattress for you.
Take all of the bedding, sheets, and pillows off of your mattress. You’ll also want to make sure you move anything near the bed that could be damaged during the process. Take down picture frames, remove lamps, and clear your nightstands. Keep an eye on your ceiling fan or light fixture when you’re flipping your mattress.
Many of our mattresses come with handles which can help make rotating even easier. On our innerspring mattresses, these handles are attached to the innerspring unit itself and are designed to help support the weight of the mattress.
1. You’ll want one person on one side of the bed and one person on the other, each holding the handles. With both people lifting the mattress a few inches off of the box spring or bed, one person (person A) will move from the side of the bed to the foot of the bed.
2. The other person (person B) will help lift and move their side toward the head of the bed, but they will remain on their side of the bed. Allow the mattress to come to rest. The handles will now face the head and foot of the bed.
3. Now, person B can come to the foot of the bed and grab the handles there. Person A will move back to their side of the bed and grab onto the handles that are now at the head of the bed. Together they will lift the mattress, and person B will move back to their side of the bed. This will realign the mattress with the box spring.

3. Each person will return to their side of the bed. Bending at the knees and grabbing the underside of the mattress, tip the mattress up on its side toward the headboard.
4. Rest the mattress on its side on the box spring or bed.
5. Grabbing hold of the bottom edge, lower the mattress gently to lay it flat.
6. Use the handles to realign it with the box spring.
